A college student’s meandering thoughts about life and the pretty things in it.
- Saturday nights
I’ve spent time with the cousins, I’ve had ceviche and a cream puff, and I’ve seen puppies tackling each other — a full weekend indeed. Now all I want to do for the remainder of this weekend is lie in bed reading anything other than the readings that I have been assigned. It seems like the right thing to do.
Also, love poetry seems much more tolerable in Latin. Perhaps it’s my terrible, heartless translation that makes it so.*
uiuamus mea Lesbia. atque amemus.
rumoresque senum seueriorum
omnes unius aestimemus assis.
soles occidere et redire possunt.
nobis cum semel occidit breuis lux
nox est perpetua una dormienda.
da mi basia mille. deinde centum.
dein mille altera. dein secunda centum.
deinde usque altera mille. deinde centum.
dein cum milia multa fecerimus
conturbabimus illa ne sciamus
aut ne quis malus inuidere possit
cum tantum sciat esse basiorum.* In order that I not I reveal my incompetence, I shall refer you to a much lovlier translation.
- Start
Meandered down Strong St. in Riverside today with Sam, looking for some photo opportunities. Forgot to adjust the ISO — oops. Who knew there were so many chickens around here? Chickens and mean doggies.
I started the application process for a student visa for the UK. Now someone in the United Kingdom knows what I’ve eaten in the last 72 hours, what I will name my firstborn son, and how many times I’ve crossed the street without checking both ways.
